Moisture Monitor System

I was wondering if it would be possible to make a moisture monitor system along the lines of Zep's tank monitor system. I would think that all you would need to do is measure resistance (voltage drop) across probes located in different areas of the trailer like the rear, all four corners and around the door area and maybe in front of the fridge and under some of the problem window areas. You could have a LED for each zone. The probes could be a couple stainless screws with wires on them. When the wood got wet, the LED would light up. This would be better than the Sonin system that most folks use. Maybe this is overkill but how many of use on here can be accused of that? The wires could be small and easy to hide. If you were doing a total gut and rebuild, you could hide most of the stuff.

I think it is a very good idea. This could be your retirement if mothership is interested (or as aftermarket if not).

You're overlooking something… Your trailer has a 12vDC system that uses the trailer frame/skin as a common ground. You would only need to put power to one screw in the wood near but not touching the frame or skin, with an LED in between the fusebox and the screw. Then when you had wet wood from the screw to the frame or skin, you'd have a circuit without the need for a second wire and screw to make the circuit.

True but two wires might work better and provide more consistent readings. Less chance of bad connection and ground loops.
