Modifications I've made to our Bambi...

It has been almost 4 years now and we love our Bambi more than ever!
We've towed about 30,000 miles in that time without incident and yes we are very happy in a 16' Airstream.
I am continually looking for ways to "improve" our stuff and the Airstream has had its share of modifications.
I thought I'd share the list as of today...

2012 International Serenity, Modification List:

* Replaced stock group 24 battery with 4D Lifeline AGM battery
* Installed a trimetric battery monitor
* Designed a Grey water drain system (16' Airstreams have a combined black/grey water tank.
* installed Dometic thermostat for both heat and air conditioning.
* Cleaned up the Television cable routing. Now you can swing the tv out without disconnecting anything!
* Charles battery charger to replace the original converter.
* Replaced the factory Sub woofer with a better sounding speaker.
* Wired the Bluetooth phone speaker to the radio.
* Rewire light switches at door of trailer so they made sense. Foreword most switch controls foreword most lights etc.
* Wired the Radio battery power wire to the battery so that if I hit the battery disconnect by mistake, I no longer have to reprogram all of my radio settings!
* Installed Airstream stainless fridge covers, stove vent and water heater cover
* Installed an Apple TV
* Replaced Pillows and bed cover
* Had mattress rebuilt (it is now the most comfortable mattress we own
* Replaced shower head and added real cutoff
* Installed a Hensley hitch
* Propane tanks replaced with aluminum tanks with gauges
* Replaced tank monitor system with SeeLevel system
* Michelin tires
* Remote solar panel connection added now I can piggyback 2 additional 100!watt panels
* Added shock absorbers
* Added external propane port
* Added shelving in overhead cabinet
* Replaced factory inverter with 2000 watt Xantrex inverter.
* Medicine cabinet replaced with real cabinet
* Added numerous clothes hooks in bathroom and closet

I'm sure there is more but this is the list as I remember it...
There is nothing I would not do again!

I always liked show and tell in school. That would be great. Lucky you to be traveling soon. We are expecting single digit temps and snow tomorrow here.

We're in the low 20's, had our first snow last night! Thought we might actually be able to dodge the salt and crud this year but alas....no

Here is something I forgot to include in my original list...
My wife complained that she had nowhere to put a cup of coffee while in bed.
I fixed that with this little shelf!

We will be stopping Myakka River State park and Alafia River Satate park, we have a couple of days at DeSoto too but we may skip there this year as other places beckon and we could not get our usual 10 days plus...

OK please share info on the shelf. Is it custom, or can I buy one? Very Cool.

Nothing better than personalizing your trailer. All good stuff, well thought out. Good camping.

Would be great to see some detail on your shock install. Always wanted shocks for my 16. I've gotten no positive feedback from a couple shops I talked to about it. The little ones need a smooth ride too !!
PM if easier...
Thanks....

The shelf is something I made up one evening. It is pretty slick and works perfectly (if I do say so myself...).
I posted a picture of it on a FaceBook Airstream group page and people went nuts! It was hysterical. I would imagine that it might be mass produced but my fear is that small differences in the curtain track spacing would make fitting it a trailer by trailer event.

Give Colin Hyde in Vermont a call... He has the brackets that must be added to the axel. It was pretty easy actually

Radio wire to battery

I'd love to know how you got the wire to the battery. Is you radio in front or rear of coach. Mines in the rear but the reprogramming part drives me nuts. What subwoofer did you go with?

Hi from AZ. . .It seems like a Hensley for a 16' is a little overkill. . . I'm pulling a Sport 17 with no wd setup. Were you having problems with sway ? thanks, Craig
