Minor interior flood - what to do?
My wife and I took a 2 week road trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. It was a great trip with only one problem. On a long day with few rest stops on the road, Britney decided to use the bathroom. She turned on the water pump, but forgot to turn it off. Somewhere on a bumpy road, the kitchen faucet got knocked open. Of course we had the cutting board covering the sink, so the water didn't have anywhere good to go. some of the water could have found its way through the 1" hole in the cutting board.
We discovered the problem when we pulled into the campground that afternoon. We have a 18' long runner carpet that soaked up a few gallons, plus there were some towels and clothes that soaked up a gallon or two. We were also able to sponge up about another gallon or two. Our 39 gallon freshwater tank was about 35-40% full, so about 13.5 to 15.5 gallons came out of the faucet. Maybe 10% of this went through the cutting board hole and down the drain, so then 12-14 gallons leaked out onto the floor. My guess is that we removed about 6-9 gallons, 3-8 gallons went elsewhere.
My question is whether there is an easy way to take off just a segment of the belly pan (its a 2018 model) to check for moisture and/or mold in the insulation.
What would you do if this was your Airstream?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
