MicroAir Easy start failure

My MicroAir Easy start has failed and I cannot get anyone to answer the phone.
Anyone else have trouble getting in touch with there tech support?

Here’s the story......
My MicroAir 364 has been install for just over a year and has worked great. Yesterday my compressor would come on and run for a very short time then turn off. It was 96 degrees so as a last ditch effort to save the trip I climbed up on the roof and uninstalled the MicroAir and the AC has worked perfectly for over 12 hours.

Troubleshooting guide here

You describe, perhaps, what they cover in this document.

Dang, that stinks! I wonder what failed.

I need to "be prepared" for this kind of failure... right now, I have no idea how to "uninstall" the MicroAir. I need to dig up the wiring diagrams, just in case.

Please keep us all posted as this story unfolds.

Perhaps the internal start capacitor failed in the EasyStart? That is easily replaced if you open up the case... they do fail... just a thought.

That looks like what has happened. It smells like it let the smoke out of it.
Anywho it’s covered under warranty so I’m just trying to get someone to call me back from MicroAir. I’ve left a message and sent email.
We have AC working with it uninstalled so no disruption to our trip this week in the 100 degree Alabama heat.

Fortunately I used blade connectors when I installed the MicroAir so all I had to do was unplug it and replay on the factory start capacitor.

I will post all results here.

No kidding! I kept the bits and pieces in a baggy from mine, but going 'backwards' and putting them back in would be a headscratcher for me. Glad you got it figured out and have cool air Ronnie!

You guys are over thinking it.
It’s super easy to uninstall
When you unplug the MicroAir unit you have one wire, the White from the compressor (was hooked to Micro air brown) that plugs in the the “C” common on the Run Cap and then there are two wires from the factory start cap that have to plug back up to the Run Cap. “Red” connects to HERM and “White” connects to Common on Run cap

Hardest part about the whole thing was finding a way to get on the roof to do the work.
Fortunately the camp ground had a 10’ ladder and were willing to loan it to me and allow me to work on my unit in the camp site.
And the fact that all this work created quite an audience so I was kinda working under pressure with lots of “helpful” suggestions...... from the peanut gallery.

Wow! Ronnie nice work, but I got to say this doesn’t surprise me. I’ve read about your work. Heck if I installed the easy start yesterday I could not reverse it the next day by memory! I would still need the instructions.

I had MicroAir install mine at 2018 Alumalina. The first time I started that AC this spring, the fan would run but not the compressor. Turns out they mis-wired the installation and my dealer had to fix. MicroAir paid my dealer.

If mine were a new install I would not have questioned it being wired wrong. Heck we are all human, but mine worked flawlessly for just over a year before it gave up the ghost.
It should be covered under warranty.
As a testament to MicroAir I have yet to find another person who has had a failure.
Has anyone ever had this problem....

Just tagging in here. Did you ever get anyone from Micro air to call you back?
Cheers

GMFL: I had a similar situation last summer, when we had a high 90's day and the compressor would start and then shut down. After several tries in cooler weather the compressor wouldn't start at all. Upon inspection I found the capacitor in Micro-Air's unit has a reset button. Pushed the button in and it's been fine so far. No more days since then in high 90's. Bought a spare capacitor from Micro-Air just in case.

In case you look at there website they show a capacitor for the 366. Farther down the page is a list of capacitors and I found a match to the one in my unit:

88-106MFD/330V (-118-X00)

I saw that button and it was out. I pushed it in after I had it uninstalled and down on the ground. I thought that might indicate the CAP was bad but I’m not that smart. After I uninstalled all is working great. I’ll have to let the MicroAir guy sort out the problem with the unit.
I guess next on the to buy list will be an extra CAP and one of those collapsing ladders to take on the road with me.
( WOW collapsing and ladder in the same sentence is BAD)

I was just thinking, knowing how to reverse the install is one thing...but having the old parts on hand is another? I guess you kept yours in your kit? Mine are stored in my garage. Maybe a good idea to put in my tool bag in the trailer. I think there is a capacitor and some other small part? Good thing you had yours with you in any case.

I never removed the old parts from inside the electric enclosure, just disconnected it and taped up wire ends.
