Metal box that holds black tank

My orginal metal box was coroded. I do not know where I need to put the hole for the dump valve. Does anybody have a picture of what the box should look like? I have just spent awhile looking in the forums for pictures.

I forgot to put down what type of metal box I have for the black tank. I have a 1973 Overlander.

I'm pretty sure the box I pulled out of mine was the factory original. There was an opening back there that was rectangular on the road side, aft end of the box. Then, the factory appears to have used a couple of pieces of aluminum that they "cut to fit" around the pipe. Then they riveted those two pieces to the pan to fit. Hope that makes sense.

I have that on mine. What little of that side I have left. I could not remember if I cut that out when I was removing it. Thanks.

Here are the manual pages. I don't know, looking at them, how much good they will do - but may help you.

Our tank pan was replaced at some point as evidenced by the support angles now being aluminum and the pan being in reasonable condition. On the replacement they did not cut a full circle to insert the dump line thru. It looks like they lined the tank up in the tray, leaving room on both ends for the styrofoam insulation that goes in the bottom and around the four sides, then marked the vertical width of the the line on the tray. They cut a U in the tray to allow the line to seat in - not a full circle. Good luck with your project.

That PDF file looks great. This will really help me. I think there is two ways I can go with this. I have seen pictures that give me the opportunity to cut the holes differently. I know that they made long retangle holes and filled the gaps when the tank was in with small pieces of aluminum and they built round holes. My goal is to have the tank box finished today.
