Manual worth the $48 price tag?

My 94 Sovereign did not come with the owner's manual and was curious to know if it contains enough worthwhile information to make it worth buying. If you have a 1994 manual please give me your opinion on it's worthiness. In other words, should I just buy it, or just wing it?

You can download one for free on the Airstream website.

It seems they go back to 2002, but I downloaded one for my 1998, and everything is virtually identical. Great reference material and FREE.

Hi, I am a new owner of a vintage 1960 pacer and I am in need of a manual too, but I dont think I will find one? If you know of anyone who can help me out, because I haven't the slightest clue on some of the basic stuff. Thanks

So what kinds of things are in the service manuals?

I had a 1996 Sovereign and ordered a manual from the WBCCI club. It was terrific. Had detail info, plumbing diagrams and wiring diagrams. I don't think those are available for newer AS.

I have a complete manual for a 1999 Excella if you are interested. It was for sale in the forum classifieds until l removed it last week. PM me if you are interested.

The manuals I have had for the four different Airstreams I have owned, early 1973 through 2000, have been very similar, some parts identical, except for the component manufacturers data sheets. The wiring and plumbing diagrams are dated. Some drawings are used for several years. And those that have been revised have the revision dates noted on them.

Went to order the $48 manual from Airstream the other day but got discouraged and pulled it from my cart when I saw the shipping was another 17 dollars. Went to E-Bay and found original 1994 travel trailer owners manual for $24 with free shipping, hoping it tells me what I need when it gets here. I'm sure it will tell me more than what I know which isn't much.

There is a lot of difference between the owner's manual and the service manual. If you intend to do any of your own repair work, you need the service manual. I have both for all my 78 and 89 trailers, In 1963 they did not publish service manuals and the owners manual was a loose leaf folder with all the original equipment's makers flyers.

I downloaded the 2001 Safari manual a year or so ago (closest I could find to my 2000 Safari) and compared it to my paper manual. The downloaded manual is not the same as the one that comes with the trailer. The download version does not have all of the component manufacturers owners manuals included, like manuals for the fridge, a/c, toilet, shower, water heater, etc... But the downloaded version allows you to look up Airstream's part numbers, the paper version does not.
