Congratulations, what great news! Not only are you creative and resourceful, you are SO good at 'splaining and documenting all that cool stuff you've done. It's a great thing that your expertise will now go to an even wider audience. Well done, my friend!

Not on Facebook so cannot comment on your article so I will post here.

What do you think is a basic “tool belt” to have along for the ride? Should I carry an air compressor, sockets, 1000 piece tool set or just a Leatherman and duct tape? What do you carry?

Great question so I will hijack my on thread.

I carry basic tools on the Road
Drill and bits
Small impact/screw gun
Small socket set SAE/Metric
Klein Screwdrivers and assorted screws
Lineman pliers
Wire strippers/cutters
Multimeters/AC DC Volt meter
Needle nose pliers
Crimp tool and assorted crimps
Open/closed end wrench set SAE/Metric
Pop-rivit gun and assorted rivets
ALLEN wrench set SAE/Metric

That’s about it. All fits inside 2 small/midsized tool bags.

Very nice write up! I wish now I had used green LED’s instead of the red.

Have you ever used these? Heat shrink butt connectors.

They look like they would make projects such as this much simpler for those of us who can’t solder to save our lives. Took me forever...
