I am currently on the road and have noticed a small drip below the city water inlet/pressure regulator. I have tracked it down and notice that it only occurs when the hot water heater is pressurized. It appears to drip between the external and internal wall. It does not leak when the heater is shut down. The HW heater is on the other side of the trailer and the HW lines are all tight. Could this regulator be getting increased pressure from the HW system causing some type of back pressure.
Do i need to replace the pressure regulator behind the city water inlet?
The leak is not bad but would like to get it fixed before damage occurs. Does anyone have an idea. I do keep an extra pressure regulator (walmart) on the inlet hose.

You can get quite a bit of pressure from the expansion of water as it heats, when you first turn on the water heater, if you do that at a time when you aren't using any water.
But it shouldn't leak at the city water inlet. With that going on really the only thing to do is tear into the wall and see what's going on. It may be a fitting or something too.
