who has driven away with the electric cord attached!
It broke out the plastic shield that holds the plug in place on the body. Where can I get a new one? Who can I talk to???!!

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

I haven't done that one, yet. But I have done plenty of other similar stupid things. It's all part of Airstreaming. You get so focussed on checking one thing, you overlook something very obvious.

The piece that you "removed for inspection" is standard RV fare. You should be able to find one at Camping World or just about aby RV dealer.

Well thank you very much! I was the one at the drive-in driving away with the little speaker attached to my car window!
I wish I knew what it was called. I'll check the local RV stores.

I think deadhead needs/is talking about the shore power 30 amp coupler with the little hatch door that goes to the cord.

I'd contact the AS store and see if you can pick one up there. The ones I've seen are white plastic, but AS uses a gray plastic. Matches the AS better.

Welcome to our 'little' group. We enjoy hearing new ideas, questions and stories. No I haven't driven off without disconnecting everything...yet. But my Dad did. It is one of my favorite stories of our family's RTE 66 'pioneer' journey to Calif. from Michigan. The year was 1952. A very hot late June and late afternoon somewhere in Oaklahoma. We needed to stop for the night but there were no overnight trailer parks near. Dad stopped at a dusty RTE 66 roadside service station for gas and directions to a place for the night. The s-station owner said there was nothing for many miles but we could pull behind the station for the night and hook up to water and use the station rest room. Travel trailers then had no holding tanks even though most had full bathrooms. Anyway the next morning continuing on our journey about 10 or so miles west from there a passing car signaled us that we had a problem at the rear of our trailer. Dad found a safe pull off space and we discovered 50' of garden hose still fastened to our trailer....the service station hose. Dad and I unhooked the trailer and after rolling up the hose drove the 10 miles back to return it and pay for the damage. That was the kind of man my dad was. The picture is of our RTE 66 rig taken in Calif. A 1948 Nash Ambassador and a 1950 26' Pan American trailer.

I think the AC adapter thing is made by a company called Marinco.

It might be worth a call to find out if they can supply you with a gray one, or know who can. Otherwise pay the piper.

Heck, go to an RV store, buy a white one cheaper and then spend a couple of bucks on some paint specifically for plastic... color it purple... red, grey or even SILVER, Then call it Airstream.

Welcome to the forums. Please don't feel bad as each of us has done something similar or worse. I can't think of which one of my many stories to tell you about so will relate the most current one. My son and I hitched up our Saturn which we flat tow behind our MH one morning and took off through the mountains of Vermont. A friendly couple passed us on the interstate waving and honking and I waved back. They then started pointing and shouting and my son, who was driving at the time, realized they were being more than friendly and pulled over. I stepped out to see what, if anything, could be wrong. and found our Saturn being towed only by the safety chains! We had forgotten to put in the cotter pins which hold the tow bar to the base plate. And I am supposed to be the experienced camper showing my son the ropes.
How about some more confessions to make this new member feel better.
