How to Mount License Plate?
Help!
I bought a 2008 27FB Safari SE. My license plate just arrived and I was prepared to mount it this weekend - but found that I could not figure out how to do it.
Here's a picture of the license plate mounting location. Do I just find a screw/nut/bolt and try to get into that hole? Or am I missing some pieces?
I can't believe I'm stumped by this!

Plastic "arms" pull out slightly allowing a square nut to slip into a slot on the backside of the black bracket, 1/4" screws then can mount the plate to the bracket. Screws are either 1/2 or 3/4 long so as not to rub on the body of the RV.

To put this as kindly as possible, I'm having difficulty believing it as well.
I'd encourage you to read up on basic handyman skills, find a handy friend, or maybe even take some classes; owning an Airstream is going to be astonishingly expensive if you have to take it to a shop for every single problem.
(sorry!)

Come on, the problem is obvious in the photo. The bracket was mounted sideways.

Yeah, thanks for the helpful hints. It's extraordinarily helpful to post these kinds of remarks.

Some post here definitely befuddle me. op, how is the license plate attached to your car? I am betting with a couple of screws. Do the same for the trailer tag. They actually make fancy screws and nuts for this, they are available at any auto parts store or wallyworld. They are not necessary but add a little class to an otherwise bland project.

I certainly didn't mean to disparage you in any way, but rather to encourage you on your adventure.

I purchase two stainless steel 1-1/4 x 1/4 x 20 hex head bolts and four SS nuts at the hardware store (maybe washers too, but can't remember). I inserted the bolts through the back side of the bracket so the threaded part of each bolt is facing outward and the bolt head is behind the bracket. Then I installed one of the nuts on each bolt finger tight until I got the bolts in the correct position to fit the license plate's holes. Then I tightened the first nut with wrenches, place the license plate over the bolts, then tighten the second nut to hold the plate in position.

Thanks - ended up doing the same thing. My bracket was tightly affixed to the AS so I ultimately unscrewed it. Was loathe to unscrew anything but there was no way to move the bracket to get a nut underneath. I then slipped the bolt through and replaced the bracket and affixed with a nut.
