How do I lock my door at night?

Definite newbie question...
How on earth do I lock my door from the inside at night?

The door locks on my '66 Ambassador look like THIS

I can lock the round doorknob with a key... from the outside... when I'm away from the camper, but I don't see a way to lock that while I'm inside.

And the deadbolt can be locked/unlocked from inside or outside. What's the point of that?

Turn the inside knob slightly to the left ( counter clockwise) until it clicks.

On mine, there are 2 locks. When inside, slide the square plastic screen door latch access to the left. The lock on top is locked from the inside by sliding the button in its channel to the right. The one on the bottom is locked by turning it to the right.

My door was misaligned (had it fixed at the factory) such that the lock mechanism wouldn't work from inside and from outside I had to push hard on the bottom of the for to get it to lock.

If you're having trouble with that, your door might be misaligned.

As to why they can lock from in and out of the trailer - I thought that's how they all work (even in a stick home). When outside, you can use your keys to lock it so no one gets in while you're gone. When inside, you can turn the knobs so no one can get in while you're in it.

Am I misunderstanding your question?

Sorry - I didn't look at your trailer info. I'm describing a 2012 door...I don't know how a 1966 door works...and I can't delete my own posts. Sorry

On our '66, there is a tiny, tiny button below and to the right of the inner doorknob. Pushing that button locks the door from the inside. Took me quite a while to find it.

Well, it doesn't actually click, but it does sorta turn to the left. I don't know if it's worth taking apart. For now, I think I'll just leave it alone.

Have any of replaced the outside deadbolt with a keyed lock?
