Hit and run damage
While grocery shopping today, someone did a hit and run on our 25 FC. Luckily, someone saw the perpetrator and got a license plate. Any idea how much this might cost to fix? I don’t think the underpan got damaged, but is there anything I should be looking at to assess the damage?

A new bumper is about $350 and 4 new screws...
Sorry!

Did you open the storage cover to see if there was damage to that, or did it stop with the aluminum? That will affect net cost.

Hopefully it’s just a bumper.
The guy who hit me did more damage than a bumper[emoji20]
I haven’t seen an itemized bill, but this is about a $10K repair at Jackson Center (so far). Fortunately his insurance is covering it.

Mine was dented less severely than that (OP) from the dealership. They had to replace the bumper, lid, and galvanized pan. The decorative diamond plate floor was not damaged, but the galvanized pan underneath was. Be sure to get a good look at it.

Bent bumper
I had a similar thing happen to me. I took off the bumper (very easy, only four screws as I remember), took two short 4” x 4” boards; placed the bent bumper between the boards and gently pressed my entire weight (180 lb) on the bumper, where the bend was, and it straightened out. If yours does not have a crease in it you should be able to do the same. Even with a crease it might still work.
I then touched it up with some auto silver spray paint. Good as new now!

Sorry for your hit and run ... Lucky that you had a bumper to take the damage...that's your silver lining here. It did its job.

Thanks for all the responses. The galvanized pan seems ok, but diamond plate floor is damaged. I am going to await the police and insurance results and depending on the outcome, may try repairing it myself.

Counting my blessings mine was not nearly as bad as yours.

I think you just named my Airstream!
Silver Lining.
That made me wonder if anyone keeps a record of trailer names?
And is it bad form to use one already in use?

From my personal experience and what I see in the photo, the top cover has been pushed into the trailer some breaking the seal. It goes in about 6 inches and is covered in foil. The interior plywood rests directly on top of it. If it is not sealed correctly, water sitting on the cover leaks into the trailer and wicks up through the plywood, rotting it out. I had much less damage than you and was lucky that I felt a little softness in the floor by accident. I was able to repair the floor and seal the seam before it got to where inside skins would have had to be pulled to get at the carriage bolts.
To be sure after I was done, I had the trailer leak tested. They still found and sealed a couple of little spots that my sealing missed. So don't just look the repair from the immediate cosmetic point of view. There may be more things that can show up later.

You can register your name with Airstream if you like and see what others have named theirs.

This one was done by the storage facility where we USED TO park our trailer. They basically denied doing it and said there was no proof they did it.
It was underneath the drivers side rear window.

Someone left me with a scratch on the side about a foot long and the scratch is not very deep but you can feel where the material is raised. Is there any decorative aluminum that one can purchase that could be placed over the damage.
