Help! Stranded in Louisville, KY

I'm writing this for my husband who is currently stranded with his '78 Argosy Moho in Louisville, KY heading west bound for Denver, CO and a 3 week family camping touring trip. He is in desperate need of some mechanical repair help knowledgable in the realm of clogged fuel filters / carburetor repair. Any resources would be most appreciated!

Not sure if he can find fuel filters this time of night. Maybe at Walmart. I know on my 345MH there are 3 filters. Mine are attached with simple hose clamps that you use a screwdriver on. What's the problem? Lack of power could also be the electric fuel pump that is on the fuel line. Yep, I know there's a mechanical one on the block too.

First test of fuel would be to take off air filter at carb, turn key and see if fuel is in thoat of carb, but in a MoHo dangerous not to have it backfire at the carb.

From my reading on this forum I have read many find that the small filter on the carb is the culprit.
While the line is off at the carb checking the filter, turn key and see if fuel is being pumped.
Other filter should be close to the tank, this filter Walmart probably has in stock.

All fuel line work is dangerous, any line opened has to be ready for fuel to spray out, goes without saying not a good time to have a cigarette, but most manuals mention covering fuel line opening with a rag to catch spray.

Good Sam road service sent me a mechanic when I lost brakes in Kentucky, I can highly recommend them.
Good Luck, at least tomorrow is a regular work day and all shops should be open.



If still no fuel, need to open fuel line after the fuel pump that is located on motor. no fuel there then fuel filter.

We certainly appreciate your thoughts. Just wanted to give you a bit more.

On Monday of this week (while still at home) mechanic found some fiberglass bits in the fuel filter, they blew the lines out and dumped the tank to rid of extra debris. We thought the fix was good but 10 hours into the trip it konked out on side of the road. Slightly different symptoms than before but perhaps linked. He did replace the fuel filter (traveling with a spare just to be sure) but the type of repair place available seems very limited and perhaps not appropriate.

Still seeking some expert help to see if we can get this trip back on track!
