Heat pump requirements
Newbie question. I know you need 30 amp hookup to run your AC, but is this also required for the heat pump? Will a 20 amp plug in work? 🤔
Also, last time I tried the heat pump while in Montana on a chilly fall morning, the cold interior of the AS immediately had a layer condensation on all aluminum surfaces. I turned it off and ran a small electric space heater. Should I have just cracked a few windows and continued running the heat pump? Thanks for your input 😀

Not certain but I would guess that the high start up current draw when using the heat pump would be just the same as when using the AC.
I think all you are doing when you run the heat pump is reversing the flow direction on the refrigerant so that effectively the condensing coil becomes the evaporating coil and vice-versa.
I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong!
Brian.

I would use the heat pump; if you are worried about overloading, check the temperature at the shore connection - if it is warm to hot, then I would not use it.
More important, though, is the condensation. It indicates that you are not ventilating enough. Any condensation you can see on your walls and windows is also forming on the inside of your outside walls - and water is water. you don't want to be "leaking" between your walls, no matter what.

If you have recently used the air conditioner, the evaporator will be loaded with condensate. When you switch over to heat pump operation, that condensate will be heated and evaporated into the living area causing a very humid blast. Open the windows and let the humid air out. In about 10 minutes or so, the moisture will dissipate from the coils and you can then close the windows.

The heat pump is a heat pump with cooling and heating cycles-same unit as mentioned above. It will require 30amp service whether cooling or heating.

I've also noticed the condensation when using the heat pump. I just open and turn on the vent fans in the shower and bath area, and in a short time the condensate disappears.

Moisture when turning on the HP when the AS is cold and it's same outside will produce lots of moisture inside the AS. We use small ceramic heaters as well as furnace.

Power and moisture replys
Thanks everyone for your comments. Will vent better in the future and see how she goes while under 30 amp hookup.
