Because the unit was paid for, the insurance sent the check directly to me. I understand if you have a loan on the unit, the check needs to go to the repairer. True? Anyway, I could of lived with the damage and kept the check in the bank but my partner wanted a new AS. The dealer made us such a good deal that we couldn't refuse. He traded us a new 2016 27FB with ducted air for our damaged unit, took the check for $43,000 and gave us cash BACK. I'm talking a few thousand dollars. We couldn't say no. I asked him how he was going to make money on that deal. He said he was going to fix the two panels with the larger dents and sell the unit as is. I've heard that over time, lots of small dimples will work themselves out.
Small dimples will tend to cure themselves, but you have to leave the unit outside in the sun. The skin expands in the heat and contracts after dark - and that cycle will gradually even out minor dings.

Hail Damage

Thank you for all your thoughts. Correct about the insurance giving us the check because the AS was completely paid for and no loan. Met with the dealer. He said that with small hail he would just leave it alone and take the money. He would always look at a trade with small hail damage, but does not like to take trades where repairs with panels being replaced etc. because of possible leaks etc. decided to leave it alone. Thanks everyone for your input.

Another round of heavy hail in the north Dallas area. Did you get hit again?

We got five or six things on the front corner segment despite the fact that we were stored under cover I'm hoping that the heating
and cooling will take out the small dimples

Dana

A lot of the trailers parked outside near us just really got clobbered

Sorry to read that news.
Covered storage can still allow hail if its flying in at a angle. I purposely have mine stored in a back in covered spot that faces the east since the hail seems to come from the southwest or west. I have a 5th wheel behind me facing west and a motorhome to my rear southwest. Getting a covered spot on an end unit is almost useless.

Well as you remember from your time here, just finding a covered spot here in DFW can be difficult, let alone finding one facing in a certain direction. I'm going to check and see if I can get an east facing spot, there is one that seems empty directly behind me, but you never know. If I had had an east facing spot, might have gotten a few less dings but the way the winds were swirling last night, not sure that the wind driven hail was going in just one direction.

The SOBs that are parked out in the open really got nailed, looked like machine gun fire.

Goal, where was your trailer stored. Mine is in Celina not covered. I have not been up there yet. Sorry to hear of your damage. The hail here is just maddening.

I live in Plano. We got some pea sized stuff here. Nothing major. Heading out in a few to check on things. Keeping fingers crossed.

Don't think I will visit Texas till my trailer is a few years old. I have never experienced severe hail.

Don't usually quote myself lol (much) but the above post was voice to text, so that five or six things is actually 5 or 6 dings..... about bb-sized dents, so hopefully if I can stand to do some 90 plus degree camping this summer, perhaps that good old Texas sun will pop them out.....

Stay out of Colorado, then. The Front Range is worse.
