Freshwater Tank Leak

I have a 2010 International 25fb. I have a slow leak from my freshwater tank that has been causing it to lose down to about 3/8 capacity within 72 hours or so. When we get home, I'll have it fixed.

The question- is tank replacement a proprietary thing with Airstream or can I take it to a non AS reputable service place? Our closest AS dealer would be 3 hours away.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe you probably want an Airstream team on it. I had to have my FW tank replaced (under warranty) and they had to peel away the belly pan.

Here's a couple of threads that give background and detail on a 2010 28 footer with a leaking freshwater tank that was replaced. They should give you a decent concept of the work required. I suspect that you want an Airstream shop to do the work because it would be best for the shop to have familiarity with design, layout, and piping.

Another option is to do it yourself if you are into doing such work yourself. It is not a Sunday afternoon project.

The water tanks themselves are not Airstream proprietary and anyone can buy them from a third party supplier. However, working on an Airstream is different than most other RV's (especially when body work is needed as will be the case to drop the belly pan to access the tanks) so you don't want to entrust this work to just anyone. I would rely on either an Airstream dealer or one of the many excellent independent shops around the country that specialize in Airstream work. Whatever you do, don't just go to Camping World or your cousin Vinnie who only has experience working on his Jayco toy-hauler.
