Smile Rebuilding Airstream

Anette,
Welcome. I have participated in several trailer rebuilds. I found it a lot of fun. Fortunately, we had an unlimited budget. I found a listing for Airstream on youtube. The DIY program on cable has been listed on youtube. I enjoyed watching all of the segments. You will get a good idea of what is involved in re-building an Airstream. Good luck !

OOPS, that touched a nerve! That DIY program? Was it the one where carpet tiles were STAPLED on the wall.... that isn't remodeling... it's a good example of how to turn a viable Airstream into $500 worth of scrap aluminum. If you'd like to see another awful job, use search and find Pamela Anderson's Airstream.

Paula

Was thinking the same thing... the good ideas you get from DIY are shortcuts aimed at appearances only... looks good on TV for a 30 min. show...

Good ideas of what's truely involved in rebuilding an Airstream can be found here. Boy, this is an old thread just revived...

I think the DIY was the series of around 8 episodes and for the most part was a pretty good show. It was the "While You Were Out - The Drop Zone" where they did all of the unnatural acts to a 74 Overlander or Trade Wind.

Jaxson,

your'e right OLD post, we found her, dragged her home, and we are almost finsihed with our remodel. Notice I didn't say restoration,. But you're all correct. The structure needs fixing before you start slapping new tile on the floor and hanging new curtain that's for sure.

Annette

P.S. shiney metal if you want to see what we have done go to the Tradewind section and click on Annettes Folley.
