Floor replacement time budget?

1979 31' Sovereign. I'm thinking of gutting the interior, and redoing it, frame on. But: I need to live in her in the summers, so the interior has to come out and the frame, floor and electrics have to be redone between October to mid - March, so that I can at least sleep on the floor in April to September while I chip away at the rest.

I can work on her pretty much full-time over the winter. So, is 5 1/2 months sufficient time to allow for that? Or is that going to be a rushed job?

Thanks...

Full time work, it's possible to do it. Without knowing specifics about the condition though, you're not going to get an absolute yes or no. So are you talking about starting this job next October?

Hmm. if anything, a year next October...

Also, thinking of paying someone else to do it, as it is a huge job, and I'm not 100% sure I'm up to speed on all of the skills needed..

Large job, not a huge one . I'm in the process of a shell off resto on my 27' Overlander, working solo but (more or less) full time, it took me a week to get it gutted down to the ribs. Two days and one helper later, we had the shell off, and the old floor and insulation out. I'm still in the process of sand blasting my frame, so I can't say how long putting it back together will take. We have camping reservations for the end of June, we'll cancel if we need to, but at the rate things have been going, there's a good chance it'll be back together in time. Hope that helps. I should add, though, I've been in construction all my adult life, from cabinet work to concrete. I've added new skills (and tools!) working on the AS, but nothing you can't learn via Google.

Is all the floor shot or just the back?

A re-do on the floor is no small task. But if you have the confidence and patience, it could be a rewarding experience. I would think that 5 months would be enough time to do a high quality repair.
Good Luck. You live in a very beautiful part of the world. I made a port visit to Esquimalt. Absolutely beautiful place By the way, the HMCS Esquimalt was the last ship sunk by the enemy in WWII.

That's a distinction I'm sure that the Esquimalt's crew would have been quite happy to forgo!

Thanks for the input everyone!
