Floor Removal Find

Greeting, First time poster; I started my floor demo on my 1966 Overlander. First off, thank you for all the great articles and sharing your knowledge. I have read so many post and tips and trick it made the job so much easier.

When I pulled up the original floor I found an aluminum skin on top of the frame. There was also a box in the floor. I have not read of anyone finding these? Any ideas?

I had an aluminum piece on top of the frame under the front subfloor piece on my 73 Safari. besides where the steps are, that was the only place. No box though. I figured just a little extra protection of the subfloor?

There was the same aluminum piece under the front of my Argosy, no box though. As I learned later on , it is put there to protect the wood subfloor if the belly pan is opened up to install the spare tire carrier .

Thank You for the quick replies! Im not sure about the box either; but I will reinstall the aluminum after I clean up the frame and get ready to put down the floor.
