Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

There are also Airstream dealers in Alachua, Florida (near Gainesville) and Gulfport, Mississippi.

Tires damaging Airstreams are a fairly frequent report on the Forum. For example, this recent one: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f438...ght-89381.html

You are not alone. Most such problems appear to be with Goodyear Marathons, but some may be other brands of ST tires. What kind and brand of tires did you have and how many miles on them? What pressure do you run them?

Sorry you had to have this happen to join us.

LOL: I knew someone would sneek in a nagative Marathon comment without even knowing the facts.

OP: There is an Airstream dealer in Gulfport, MS, Not sure what their shop situation is. It has been under construction.

If I were to "sneak" in, I'd post with white letters. How are we supposed to know facts if we don't ask the obvious questions? Do you doubt almost all the reports of tire failures are with Marathons?

Are you a Marathon dealer, distributor or Goodyear employee?

If the blown tire were a Michelin I'd like to know.

Patrick, you'd better make sure the repairs don't cost so much that the insurer totals it. Good luck with the repairs. You can also go to Jackson Center for body work, tour the factory, and meet others with Airstreams. There are shops that do restoration work and may be able to help you too—a frequent poster on the Forum is Frank Yesnan ("62overlander") who restores trailers in Maryland.

just had a non-goodyear tire with a tread separation did some damage to the wheel well and the skin above the the middle tire. Tire never lost air pressure,$5,500 to fix. Done by an Airstream dealer.

The 72 Overlander we got a few months ago had some no name China tires on it.. One tire had a side wall goose egg and I changed it out before even thinking of hitting the road home.. The PO said he had pulled it 1000s of miles with that goose egg lump on the sidewall. NOT ME!

What folks don't know is trailer tires are exempt of many DOT road tests that pu or car tires have to endure to pass the test..

My self,, I only run Michelin's.. Yep they are pricey but look at the $5000 post to repair the damage done by a tire flying apart.. Cheap tire in the long run can cost you 10 times as much to fix a hammered up trailer. Just my view.

From my testing,, I can run a PU rated class E tire at 35 psi pressure and the tire rides so much better than a cheap one pumped up to 65psi,.. I love my Airstream and want the best for it.. Even the tires.
