Unhappy Fire in my Airstream

Unfortunately I had a small fire in my trailor this weekend. My kids helped me pack the trailor and one of them plugged in a small spotlight and left it sitting on the right back bed. When I arrived at the RV park I plugged my trailer in and the spotlight ignited the bedding and mattress. The result is a ruined mattress of course, the carpet is shot and the inside smells strongly of smoke. I have full coverage comprehensive insurance so cost will not be a major issue. I live outside of Portland Oregon. Can anybody help me on how to procede? 1999 25' Excella Thanks

Let the insurance company do thier job. They may elect to bring in a professional to clean it.

I've work with such companies in cooperation with the American Red Cross. They have equipment and cleaners that really work well.

I've contacted my insurance company and they told me once I found a place to have it repaired then let them know and they will send out a claims examaner to the repair place. Any ideas on where to take it? I'll start with fire damage repair places I guess. Again I think the carpeting will need replacing which I would guess is a big job that is somewhat specialized.

There is a nation-wide company called Serv-Pro that specializes in fire clean-up. Your insurance company should have their contact information.

Best of luck and we all feel for you.

And the comment about selling the child made me spit coffee all over!

Oh, and don't park too close to "pinktrailer" (see the other post about starting fires)!

As far as selling the kid goes, I have 4 of them and 3 are old enough to plug in the light. However no one will fess up. They all say the other one did it.

Yeah, there were seven of us and it was always that one of the other ones did it - but NEVER the baby!
