How did you get the front cover/bezel off?

Hi, very carefully; If you use a flat bladed pocket screw driver and put in at the top, in the center, and between the black bezel and the face plate, you can pry it open. There is a metal spring clip on the top and two tangs on the bottom. After you pry the top open and pull it toward you enough for the center screw to clear the bezel, it will then lift up far enough for the two bottom tangs to clear the bottom of the black bezel. The rest is disconnecting the wires. If you look at the picture showing the back side of the panel, you can see the spring clip and two tangs. I removed the black bezel, [four screws] to make clearance for the LED light. You should be able to see where I made clearance on the bezel.

Hi, no I don't have pictures of the wiring, but I will explain it like this: In the bottom left corner [in this picture from the back side] is the back of the water pump switch. There are three wires connected to the switch. These wires are: from left to right, GREEN, YELLOW, and PURPLE. The yellow wire in the center is the hot/power wire. The green wire does not connect to anything. And the purple wire goes to the water pump. Connect the red wire from the LED to the wire nut on the purple wire. Connect the black wire on the LED to the black wire going to the control panel.

Thanks Bob ! I doesn't sound so scary after all ! I'll swing by radioshak en route and see what they have for appealing little lights and give this a go.

Thanks for a great idea, the pump on / off question has always been a bugaboo for us..... I'll let you know how it goes !

Bob, I don't have my airstream here, but it had looked to me like the actual pump switch was modular in the faceplate. Has anyone found a lighted switch to be used as a snap in replacement?

This looks like the right switch, but I'd need to confirm before buying. This is not lessen the impact of Bob's mod, I just hate drilling .

Possible switch swap....

Chris..... the switch on the panel of my '06 looks identical to the one in Bob's excellent pictures. The wiring colors he described match exactly also. Closer inspection of the switch shows that it is made by Sigma.

ROCKER SWITCHES by SIGMA / SPDT SPST DPST DPDT Momentary, Lighted, Waterproof & Miniature (Mini)

I just sent them an email with the question you posed.
I'll post my findings here.

Thumbs up Lighted Sigma Pump Switch

*** Question posed ***

"Hello, I have one of your switches ( LR-20985) in my Airstream travel trailer that turns a 12V water pump on and off. It is black in color. I would like to replace this switch using the existing faceplate with one that is illuminated to show that the pump is on."

*** Answer from Sigma ***

"The part no is 001A-31. You will have to run a ground wire from somewhere to the offcolor tab. get it at www.burnstines.com "

Hi, I had thought about a lighted switch, but I didin't find a direct replacement one, [didn't look real hard] and is the switch lighted all the time or lighted when in the ON position? Those were some of my concerns. Let us know what you do.

Hi, connect it to the black wires; They are the ground for this system.

Great mod. Thanks for the wiring details, and the source of the rocker switches. I love lights, and may go for the blue one. It'll look nice with the fresh water light, which always seems to be flashing red.
