Favorite mod? Under $100? Geez... Tough decision on that one...

It wasn't a mod unto itself, but one of my fav's so far was a recent one. When we re-did the kitched, I replaced the single cabinet door under the sink with dual doors. I made the doors myself (cope and stick with flat panels), so the cost was well under $100 - unless you consider how much I spent building the new router table!

Last week I made a cool mod for wine storage under the bed of our 27'FB. I found some crates at The Container Store called Storvino ($19.99/ea, they stack, and hold 6 bottles each). Two of them side-by-side fit perfectly in the under-the-bed hatch. Photos and links here.

Hi, some time back I had a great idea for a way to hang wet shower towels so they can dry. The factory installed towel bar is only large enough for one towel. I would hang the second towel over the shower curtain bar, but it couldn't be there while the shower was in use. [can't close the curtain] Hey I know; I'll buy a few suction cup towel bars and stick then inside of the shower. I hang the wet towels in the shower stall until dry. well the suction cup towel bars worked pretty good, but there isn't any air flow in the shower, so the towels didn't dry very well. I bought a triple bar towel rack from Ikea. I had to make a mounting board because the rack was a bit too wide. Now I can fan out the towel rack arms so the towels can dry. I don't remember how much this cost, but I'm pretty sure the whole job was around $25.00 or less.

I like that one! We too have had difficulty drying the towels (unless it's nice outside) and washrags. Is there enough friction in in the mount to prevent the rods from swaying while driving down the road, or have you found a good way to secure them so they don't damage the interior of your trailer?

Much as plush towels are nice, the best towels for traveling are cheap, thin ones that dry much faster. You will spend a lot less time (and quarters) in laundromats with thin towels.

Hi, I haven't got that far yet; I think they will stay against the front wall by themselves. There isn't very much friction, but they don't swing like on bearings either. I thought of maybe putting soft tips on the ends.

I refinished the interior quartersawn oak paneling in my 1956 bubble for $30 bucks but the buzz from all of the oil base fumes--that cost me the remainder 70 bucks in brain cell loss i guess!

Have added quite a few of these and hope to see lot's more. Thank's to all. Seeing post #196 by Robertsunrus show's the trim on sink wall that has been a prob. and replaced .It gets wet and Self Destructs. I was going to make SS Backsplash but there is an ac oulet and 3 switch assy's.that would require trimming around. Since i don't have the skill's what has worked for me was removing that small strip and replacing it with Vinyl Base Board Trim was easy to cut and install and looks great. Sorry no Digital to post Pic's.

I bought a 120v neon nightlight and put it in a kitchen outlet, now i can see it through the window at night from my front porch and i know the ac power is still on in my trailer.

I don't know why AS didn't put a drawer handle pull on the drawer under the curbside dinette seat in our 2006 19' Bambi...but they didn't. We kept saying we needed to add a pull to make it easier to open...and finally this weekend we picked up a ull that matches exactly the EOM drawer and cabinet hardward in our Safari SE. We got it at Home Depot, but you can also get them on line at Liberty Hardware Liberty Cabinet Hardware - Liberty Hardware - Bauhaus 5.3" O/A Brushed StainleSS Steel Euro Bar Cabinet Pull (they have different lengths, too)...

Less that $10, beep-beep emitted is noticeable near the rear bumper, but not as loud and annoying as those 'beepers' on dump trucks and forklifts, etc...

The doors covering the accordion curtains in our 2004 28' CCD had a habit of opening during travel. I tried velcro but it didn't help.

We purchased double magnetic cabinet latches at Home Depot. There was enough room to mount the double length latches in the space below the curtains.

So far they have held the doors tight but we have not had the unit on the road since the installation. We have moved the trailer around our property multiple times in the bumpy fields. I will update in September if they fail.

We have not used our AS since June! Our oldest son leaves for his first year of college in mid August and my husband and I agreed to not travel until September. It is getting tough but we are looking forward to the two trips on our September calendar!

We took our son to college last weekend and it was our first trip out with the new magnetic latches. They worked perfectly. The doors did not open during the road trip. When we passed into the bedroom the one on the corner did not open when it was passed by in close quarters. The doors are still easy to open when you want them open.

This was a sub-$5 fix.

My new mod is a $26 microwave from Target that is small enough to stow under the sofa.

My favorite was about $20...Mounted two small 12 Volt DC box-type fans just above each of the twin beds, wired them into the bed light. This gives a nice breeze in the summer which makes all the difference in the back of the AS.

If I could figure out how to insert a picture here, I would!!

I got tired of things falling out of the medicine cabinet into the toilet the first time I opened it after being in motion. I drilled a couple of holes in the side of the medicine cabinet and streached a couple of bungees across to secure everything.
