The top of the door of my 79 Ambassador doesn't close tight to the frame as does the bottom. I'm not convinced that replacing the door seal will correct the problem. The door frame is most likely broken, and usually at the door lock, especially if someone added a dead bolt.
The proper fix, is to remove the metal from the interior of the door, have the broken area welded, and then reassemble the sheet metal to the door, using different mount holes, since the original holes have been stretched.
