Door Hinge

I noticed the lower hinge pin on my main door sticking up about 3/4 inch. I wacked it back down and it seems to work fine except I think it is pivoting in the wrong place.

When I open the door, the pin rotates in the part mounted to the trailer. I can see the Peening marks that look like they were intended to lock the pin in place, but they don't. Also, the shape of the pin itself makes me think the pin is supposed to sit still and the moving door part of the hinge is supposed to slide on the pin.

Is this something that needs to be fixed?

Thanks
Brad

Order a pair of the replacement pins with a notch machined into them for an E-clip. They "float" and will never pop up. Your AS dealer can order for you. I replaced the lower one, which continually refused to stay in place. Works well.

About two years ago they began installing the E-clip pin Rich mentions above in all new Airstreams, so should be easy to get.

Thanks. I will keep and eye on it and if it starts walking out again I will pull it rather than driving it home and look into the clipped version.
