Dometic Fridge Clicking

1992 Excella 34'

Problem: Fridge is making a loud clicking noise when trying to run on electric. This is NOT the noise it makes when it's trying to light the propane. This is a louder, more chaotic click. In fact, when I disconnect from power and run it on propane, it seems to be working fine.

Other details: I replaced my converter today with a Boondocker.

I have recently had a breaker that controls several outlets repeatedly trip. (Havent had time to track down why this is happening) The clicking began when I was messing with the breaker box trying to see if it would stop tripping with the new converter.

I'm not sure either of those two details have anything to do with the refrigerator problem but it seems like an unlikely coincidence.

Anyone have ideas on what this could be? Thanks for any help!

This morning as I started taking things apart I'm seeing that it is trying to light the propane over and over even though it's already lit. This in spite of the fact that I'm on shore power so it should automatically run on AC. It's almost like it's rapidly cycling back and forth between AC/propane but the propane is staying on the whole time.

You have a control board issue. When the LP igniter has lit the flame, it 'sees' that flame and should be sending a digital signal back to the board so it knows the flame lighting operation is complete and it should de-energize the igniter.

Could be an igniter out of position, defective igniter, or bad fridge control board.

Also double check your DC voltage AT the fridge to be sure it is above 12.5VDC.
