I'm not a Mac person. However Macs were the first to do graphics and work with photography. Another suggestion, you might go on line to youtube and do some searches on graphics and Macs. My guess is you will find some really cool stuff.

The front window in the last video got a little off center. So I redid it and am including a picture so you can see the finished window opening. See attached.

Here is a link to a set of Airstream SKetchup models. I sometimes find it helpful to see how others approach modeling of complex objects.

Thanks for this post. You are one step ahead of me on this one. I had planned to have the members of this group use 3d Warehouse to post their models. This would make lots of good models available for everyone. The 63 Bambi in this section was one of the first Airstreams I did with SketchUp. The Model by a online friend I've been communication with for some time. In real life he a yacht interior designer. You might find his excellent work interesting. Here is his Picasa site.
Picasa Web Albums - COSEDIMARCO
He lives in Italy. His model of an Airstream is there also.
The Bambi was the first attempt to create an Airstream in SketchUp. I have gone through several approaches in the creative process. The 60's trailers are especially challenging. Because the curved shapes are Compound Curves with a twist. Most of that model was done by hand. One triangle at a time.

Great, I'm glad you were able to discover a program to crop the picture. Keep me posted on your progress.

Now that we have completed a simplified trailer. It's time to look at what your trailer looks like and how is it different form the simplified model we completed. Airstream has continued to modify the shape of their trailers from the beginning. Attached is picture that represents the 9 people who are currently working in SketchUp to learn how to model their trailers. In the beginning Airstream used all straight metal sheets to create the form, i.e. the 13 panel trailers of the 50's. Next came the forming of the end caps and the use of metal with compound curves, i.e. the 5 panel trailers. The early trailers has straight sides. In the 70's the trailers became more rounded. and what I call the bulge sided trailers. Note that the widest part of the trailer is near the middle of the trailer. These variations are only dealing with the end view of the trailer. This is why I asked you to find pictures of both ends and both sides of your trailer. The pictures should be taken straight on to the part you are taking the picture.
Please study these pictures to see how your trailer varies form the rest of the group. In the following instructions I will be developing these variations but will only work on the end caps. Your job will be to work toward producing a model of the shell of your trailer. No windows any other detail at this point. Later we will all come back together in the work on our trailers. Because the processes we will work on apply to all models.

Marcus, I've made an attempt to create this site so anyone can start at any time. If you go to the top of the thread on the right in the blue line. Click on search and type in"instruction" . It will give you all the instruction parts in order without the other conversations.
