Wow Don!

"Karma" to you for your incredible effort. I'm just kind of plugging along through them. I really appreciate all the work that you put into sharing your expertise.

vswingfield, thanks for the Karma on the SketchUp instruction. I have enjoyed developing these instructions and communicating with all the fellow Airstreamers.

instruction

I'm currently working on the next set of instructions. There are times when the special tools in SketchUp can't handle the job at hand. This instruction will be directed to the solution of more complex forms.

demo example

I'm including two rendered examples of the 50's trailer end caps. These were constructed by drawing most of the parts a line or triangle at a time. The end cap is a complicated form. They are curves with a twist. Which makes the difficult for the SketchUp tools to form. The next set of lessons will be successful for you. If you have followed all the lessons to this point. Most may feel that is not necessary to go to this level of 3d work. And you are probable right. I felt it would be a good exercise for those who are interested. So that you might see the difference. These examples have been rendered in the rendering program "Kerkythea". There is a free download for this program.

instruction Complex End Cap

This is an example where much of the work is laid out by "hand". What is meant by this is that the special drawing tools of SketchUp are not use as much because the shapes are more complex. It's this complexity that makes it difficult for the tools to create the shapes wanted in the design. The techniques to work in this mode is demonstrated and explained in these instructions.

new instruction?

The last instruction will be the last of the instructions until I can save up the $300 to buy the software I need to continue. I will still answer questions and give help with the program to anyone working with SketchUp. Questions can be directed to this thread or airstreamsketchup@gmail.com.
Those who are creating models for their trailers I would like to see some of your work posted here.
Thanks Don
