Custom 'Badge' for our 23D

On my very first trip out of my driveway with the Airstream in tow, I managed to uproot our mailbox and put a little 'dimple' right in the dead center of the entry door. Dang!

So, I got to thinking about a 'band aid' and thought why not see if I could make - or have made - a little aluminum custom 'badge' with the name of our Airstream; "Fortune Cookie"?

The more I thought about it, the more it seemed like a good idea, so I contacted Forum member "Centennial Man" (Steve) who was exploring ways to make the screen door guards.

Steve was extraordinarily helpful, even sympathetic, and agreed to give it a go. So I selected a font and gave Steve the overall dimensions, sent Steve the "artwork," and he got on it. A short time later I had my badge... I did a bit of additional "hand work" to give it the brushed aluminum look I was after, pained it with clear gloss aluminum wheel paint from AutoZone, and installed it with VHB... right over my offending dimple.

The lettering is 'flame cut' through the aluminum, giving it the perfect look with the font we selected. I painted gloss black on the door behind the open lettering... as you can see, the lettering shows up great.

Love it! Wife Linda does too. Thanks, Steve!

Steve is still exploring ways and options to make the custom screen guards, and we are eager for his success... we want one that says "Serenity." Nice.
