Per Airstream ---

Dealer Awareness Bulletin
Cleaning fabrics
Curtains

Airstream curtains can be successfully cleaned, within reason, by following the instructions below.

Safari and International Curtains.

Curtains for the Safari and International trailers are currently manufactured by Dana Mills Inc.The fabric is comprised of 87% polyester and 13% cotton. Since the fabric is made from cotton it will shrink. Danna Mills recommends the fabric is Dry-cleaned however; it can be washed in cold water using a perfume free soap and non chorine bleach if needed. Air-dry the curtains after the washing is completed.

Classic Curtains.

Curtains for the Classic trailers are currently manufactured by Milliken Inc. and distributed by Crestmont fabrics. The fabric is comprised of 100% polyester. Crestmont recommends the fabric is washed in water no warmer than 160 degrees using a perfume free soap and non chorine bleach if needed. Do not use any fabric softener as this will damage the material. The curtains can either be Air-dried or tumbled dried on medium heat. In the event ironing is desired use the low setting.

Ultra Leather

Airstream uses Ultra leather fabric style 303 on the lounge and dinette seats in certain model Travel Trailers, Interstate Vans and previously on the Class A motorized products.
It is a polyurethane fabric with a rayon reinforced backcloth that has very high wet and dry capabilities- which translates into a stronger yarn and fabric.

Care Instructions
Remove the stain immediately
Spot clean with mild soap and water
Air dry or dry quickly with warm setting of a hair dryer
For stubborn stains use a MILD solvent
For tougher stains use Fantastic or 409 brand cleaner
Disinfect with a 5:1 bleach solution
Machine Washable—Gentle wash cycle.

I washed some of mine. I folded them and put them in a large utility sink filled with knock-off Woolite. I agitated by hand a bit and rinsed. I hung them to dry. They turned out nice.

I have washed them in the washing machine on gentle, put them in the dryer just to get them slightly dry, immediately pressed and pleated them with my hands and hung them in the trailer damp. Turned out beautiful, crisp and really clean.

We store our 25FB Classic in the Phoenix area. At the start of each traveling season I remove the curtains let stand over night in cold water with Oxi Clean in the water then wash in washer on delicate with a small amount of bleach then dry by hanging. I have been doing this for the past five years No problems and they are white

Help. Just noticed that our 2014 International curtains have a mold stain on them. I have tried all the suggestions mentioned except I have only used cold water with the oxyclean. I have soaked them and I have made a paste and gently tried to scrub them and also tried a combo of borax and oxyclean.
Nothing seems to help. I now have very clean curtains with mold stain on the bottom edge. Some parts more than others.
Any ideas out there.
