Citristrip

I see a lot of people talking about and recommending Citristrip. Is that because it's more environmentally friendly, it doesn't have the harsh fumes like tradition strippers, other strippers interact with the aluminum, or because it out performs other strippers?

In my experience it performs well removing zolatone from aluminum with no apparent damage to the underlying metal. Lack of toxic fumes was a huge plus given that I was working in a tightly enclosed space. Make sure you wear good gloves though. You do not want this stuff sitting on your skin.

I use it for small jobs for it’s environmental impact. Great for vents, moldings, window frames, ect. Works well on the aluminum and pot metal castings. Soap and water cleanup makes it easy to work with.
For removing large sections of clearcoat I find it less than ideal. When warm it tends to run and drip a lot on the sides of the trailer. It usually takes two overnight applications and works better when covered with plastic.
