cabinets

Good evening. Doing total gut on AS, 31 footer. Can anyone please indicate thread for cabinet making or photos of such. Looking for ideas on how to do light weight construction from scratch. Thank you.

I'm a cabinetmaker that did all the cabinet work on my 310 renovation.

I personally used solid pine face frame construction using a domino machine to insert solid beech biscuits to reinforce the joint. I then tongue and grooved 5/8" baltic birch gables into the back of the frame. The gables only went deep enough to support my drawer slides. If I didn't need a bottom to my cabinet, I wouldn't put one in. None of my cabinets had any backs. If I was to mount a door I only had a 2 1/2" gable which was deep enough to mount the Blum self closing hinge plates.

I did use bottom mounted slides, which because you use two instead of one slide you're adding quite a bit of weight but the soft close action and self closing mechanism adds class and finesse.

I used a shaper to construct solid wood doors and drawer fronts out of pine which was replacing solid white oak door frames and drawer fronts, so there was weight savings with the pine.

I should have taken pics before installing the cabinets but was rushed to finish before winter. The one thing I did was keeping all interior original gables but resurfaced them with new vinyl. I did construct a new face frame and doors for the fridge side as I tossed the mini freezer and substituted a double bin laundry recycling pull out.

Pg 4 shows vinyl work.

I will try and take some pics of the inside of my cabs and machines and technics.
