The vents of the older trailers did open from the inside.

Thanks for the ideas. Think I will see if maybe a binder clip will do.

second the ace recommendation ... actually like it better than original.

nylon screw & nut, 2 nylon washers & "screen holder" (either plastic or nylon). Click image for larger version

I love the clothes pin idea! The original tabs on ours are useless. I’ve been wedging a small stick in mine just to keep them in closed position while traveling but that is just dumb

I have a vent on a donor 2014 30FB that was a rollover. The hood is broken but the tabs are good. I can send you one. After reading this thread I'll want to keep the 2nd for a spare.
PM me if needed.

mine was for a 1992 Excella.

There must be a better way !

After replacing the white, painted, peeling, piece of junk vent cover with another black, non-painted, piece of junk cover, I continued to experience the same turn-lock breakage. One day while in the electrical dept. at my local Home Depot or my local Ace, (not sure where),I found a bag of small aluminum wire clamps. With two of these, two SS screws, two SS washers, a drill, a screw driver and me trusty step stool, I was able to fashion new hold-downs. I also added a tiny bit of super glue to the tip of the screws to keep them from turning.

I emailed Ventline through their website and explained this exact situation. The representative was prompt, asked for my address and agreed to mail a few of those flapper retainer clips out to me. Should be arriving this week.

I use a mini clip - like you would put on your refrigerator to hold notes or small pictures.

We installed one of these before the AS Store got a hold of them and raised the $$$ 100%. 😠

The weight holds it closed and a custom clip holds it open when in use.
If forgotten about the clip will allow it to close at speed while underway, it is advised to keep the clips in stock. 🤓

I rigged up two closure levers from the nuts and bolts drawers at the hardware store using the existing holes. Little bolts that would go through the holes with double nuts and double washers. Between the washer you put a little screw eye. With the bolt going through the eye so it rotates over the vent flap. I added a short piece of 1/8 fuel line for friction and to provide a little handle. Looks and works great $5.00 and should never have to worry again.

These are no longer available from Lowes but I did find a 4 pack at my local ACE hardware in the screen repair section.

Here's what I did.

Window Screen Swivel Clips
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Barton-K...-614/100162932

Tap bolts, Stainless steel 18-8, #8-32 x 1/2"

#8-32 Stainless Steel Nylon Lock Nut

Installed the bolds from the back without removing the vent.
