broken glass

Not sure whether it was Halloween vandalism or today's 300 mile drive, but bottom line one of the small windows in the front of the AS has shattered.

As a temporary fix we've Ducktaped a piece of cardboard to the inside hoping that if the window shatters further glass won't fall into the interior of the trailer. We're hoping this will hold until after our scheduled trip to Death Valley to take in the annual 49er Celebration.

Of course it has to be fixed ASAP but I'm wondering if this is something any certified glass repair shop can fix or it is something that should involve AS. It appears as thought lots of rivets must be removed and then after window is installed -- replaced.

Any thoughts appreciatedpreciated.

Hi Bert,

If it were me, I'd schedule an appointment with the nearest Airstream Dealership with a travel trailer service department. According to Airstream, Inc.'s web page, the nearest Airstream Dealerships for you while you are at the Death Valley '49ers Annual Encampment (Wednesday, November 5 - Sunday, November 9) at Furnace Creek, CA, 92328, are:

Airstream Los Angeles (approximately 170 miles away)

Airstream Orange County (approximately 193 miles away)

The above Airstream Dealerships have Service Departments and appointments can be made online.

When making an appointment, it would be good to give them the details of the window to be replaced to make sure they have the part available when you arrive for service.

Good luck with this,
Bill
