Brake problems

I recently had a problem with the Hydrolic brake actuator on our 2007, 27' Classic. Had to replace it with a different brand at $1,100+. Anyone know why this was not a recall item by Airstream? Another manufacturer did recall them. My repair facility said they have seen problems with the Activex controller so I know it is not just me.
Thanks.

There was a recall on one of the actibrake models....but Actibrake went out of business some time ago.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration generally instructs manufacturers to issue recalls; not many recalls are done voluntarily by the manufacturer since they're costly.

A search of NHTSA archives indicates an Actibrake (is that what you mean by "Activex"?) recall on Doubletree trailers. The cause was faulty trailer wiring, not a defect in the brake controller itself. Since it was not a fault in the controllers themselves, the recall would not apply to other trailer brands.

Also do a forum search on "Actibrake". There is a world of information out there.
