Limbs fall off trees all the time. That doesn't mean its unhealthy. I have multiple wild pecan trees in the back yard, a couple over 40' diameter and everyone who knows anything about pecan trees know they self prune. Every week you know to pick up limbs before mowing. Oaks in the yard loose limbs too just not as often as the pecans. Don't blame the tree for being a tree. Not the neighbors fault for sure. Everybody is sue happy these days for some reason.

What if you don't believe in God, do you benefit from that mindset?

Do you live inside, like the giant Sequoia trees in California?

‘Act of God’ refers to a legal definition, not to be taken literally

Got a good point there...
Sxxt happens without any divine intervention

We took out a tree in our front yard and in our back yard because they weren't needed. Out neighbor's trees had encroached to the point we lost no shade.

Meant 40". 44.75" Diameter pecan here. Everything's bigger in Texas!

You are measuring the circumference, not the diameter, and the tape shows 140.5 inches, doesn't it?. Divide by 3.1412 to get a diameter of almost 45" -- still a big tree!

Perfect solution (until someone invents mobile trees)!

We had a large, black walnut tree fall over on our house when we lived in Tyler, TX lots o'years ago. Actually, on it's way down, one of the very large branches hit our back deck (a 2-story deck!), when the tree came down.

It was a beautiful tree, full o'leaves seeming healthy as all get out. Once it was down, we saw that the inner core - about 4 inches in diameter, was hollow up most of the tree! Turned out carpenter ants had been munching & nesting away on it for quite a while and the tree just couldn't support itself any longer (it was a big tree!).

Needless to say, with a heavily treed property, we went about checking them all out and treating for carpenter ants. That plus deck repair was an expensive event...

You guys got 'em that far north? Along with termites, they love wood!

Good one Wayne.

Many, if not most, Off the Grid Boondockers make errors of judgement.

There are some wonderful campsites in the Apache and Gila National Forests of central New Mexico. Just perfect. Flat. Grassy open area surrounded by pine trees.

Then... the 'dead lumber' that is 100+ feet tall beginning to lean, more each year, may not be noticed.

Before we set camp, the lean is studied. The distance from the base of the tree to the top is judged from where your... trailer is parked.

In some cases... how lucky do you feel that day or week? Not lucky. Very lucky... or hmmm so, so. These trees weigh as much, if not more than your trailer.

Just be aware of your situation in any Forest. The US and State Forest Service require any of their employees to have a Certificate before they can operate a chain saw. Which is smart. But... in my entire lifetime I have yet to see any Forest Service employee cutting out dead wood, trimming back brush and limbs that fall onto the roads.

If you have ever seen the results in Montana of a 'blow down' it is shocking to see the side of a mountain with the entire forest laid... flat.

Sure, I see in Utah piles of brush cut back to keep fires from starting along the Interstate. But I wonder who is actually doing that... as well. It is now bone dry... piled and waiting for something, for what?

Always be aware of your situation. Accidents happen for various reasons. Ignorance of your situation is number one on our list for the... unexpected, to happen.
