Congrats on the '64, the very first year of the modern 5 panel end caps and space age bathroom!

It was also when Marketing promoted the single hookup location. I'm not sure, but I believe they also tended to jettison the hatches while on the road so keep an eye out for that.

Post lots of photos

Our '64 Overlander has been picked up and is heading "home" 🎉 Kenny, our reno guy, says the body is better than he expected, the floor a bit worse, but that it should more than balance out in our favor. Click image for larger version

PO removed the cabinet above the front window and damaged the lip used to hold it in place, so we are considering our options. We might use aluminum and polish like the outside shell. This would create a light, bright area for the banquette.

As posted on Facebook today...
She got dropped off at the shop where her remaining clear coat gets stripped and she will be polished to a mirror shine. I'm so excited 😃 Oh, why am I referring to her as a she you ask? Tim and I decided to name her Grace (pronounced Gracie) after Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. ⛵She is a 1964 Airstream Overlander Land Yacht. Just as Sailors name their boats, Airstreamers often name there trailers. The nautical theme was started by Wally Byam, the founder of Airstream, Inc. I registered her today at the DMV at home in Georgia 😉 with a license plate that will read GRACE64, so if you see us traveling the hi ways or byways, give a shout and wave!

Interesting name for an airstream. She would have liked that. Gracie was a friend of our family--she spent her birthdays at my brother's house in Atlanta. One fine lady.

I don't think Ill of her for inventing COBOL either. It paid the bills around here for years. Even though I never was trained on it, it's a fairly easy computer language...

(Yes, I am in fact the world's oldest computer geek)

My husband and I met in Washington DC, and one day while at Washington National Airport I caught a glimpse of her. I immediately knew who she was in her vintage Navy Captain's uniform 😃 My first assignment was as a data processing liaison officer in the National Military Command Center in the Pentagon. I even learned a smidgen of COBOL.
We have both since retired from the Navy Reserve and thought the name more than fitting. Two grand old ladies 🌹

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes;

A reporter asks Admiral Chesterfield Nimitz "Why do they refer to battleships as she?"
Nimitz, "Because it costs so much to keep them in paint and powder."
