Best Ladder ?

I have the shortest version of this brand. Works well.

I had a client but one of those. Works well. But you have to use the buttons on every step to collapse it.

The Telesteps is a single pinch control at the bottom rung that will compress the entire unit in one motion. One of the reasons I chose Telesteps.

That's true, you have to use the buttons on each step, and early in your experience with it, you will "pinch" your fingers when the step drops. You'll only do that once !

Thanks, Michael. I'm surprised I couldn't find any links on their website.

I checked Amazon and about 25% of the reviews are 3 stars or lower. People that have owned it before were positive about earlier versions but negative about newer ones. Some attempts to contact the manufacturer failed. There also doesn't seem to be any repair options other than buying a new one at a reduced rate, after shipping the old one back and paying to ship the new one.

Several of the reviewers definitely liked the old version better. Some have called the new ones flimsy and one had a supporting step break and almost fall over. It looks like a good idea but I think I'll pass on this one.

Rich, I would bet there has been a country of manufacture change recently and a cheapening in quality of the product for the sake of the all mighty bottom line. Sad, but of course that is what modern business is all about.

There was mention of that is some of the reviews. All manufacturers are looking to reduce costs by relocating production and using lower cost parts. Personally, I prefer to pay for quality regardless of where it's made. The people that assemble a product have little control over the quality of the parts used in production. That's a management decision and management can be located anywhere.

I can't speak for the TeleSteps straight telescoping ladders, but the TeleSteps telescoping stepladder that I purchased from Amazon less than a year ago is hands-down the sturdiest stepladder I've ever owned, even more than the non-telescoping ones I've had.

Little Giant had a few "classes" of ladders. Class I was orange, for up to 350 lb or something. Heavy. Class II was yellow, for up to 250 lb. Not so heavy. carry it across the back seat of your car. Get one and use it everywhere.
But don't go touring around on top of an Airstream if you need a class I ladder, the spaces between the ribs might not like it.
