Bed struts

We just got a new mattress. It is heavier than our last one and now the bed is really hard to lift to access the under bed storage. Has anyone found better lift struts that make lifting easier?

I would suggest going to Amazon and finding replacement struts for the heavier load. Take you physical dim....ie your length and you can buy replacements. I just installed struts under my bed and two 45 lb struts will get it up but not keep it up. I've got a new heavier set coming. Believe the combined weight is about 20 lbs heavier. Look for Gas Struts.

Bed Struts

Thanks for the suggestions. What we ended up doing...after removing the original struts, we moved both the top and bottom bracket 12" toward the end of the bed. It doesn't lift quite as high...but still very usable space and it is so much easier to lift. We then added a strap and I can lift it with one arm (and I am not real strong). If the heavier brackets don't do the trick for you...you may want to try moving the struts.

My bed does not lift up. Seems like a lot of wasted space under it. Has anyone ever added hinges and struts to a non lifting bed?

There is a lot of info on the forum about doing this. For starters check out this thread. Although it covers a number of topics bed struts are one of them.http://www.airforums.com/forums/f295...-137731-2.html

I just recently added them to mine.
