battery box corroded out, needs to be replaced

Greetings all. Helping my brothers widow increase her comfy taking out their safari 25. Discovered pitting and other corrosion holes in the bottom of the battery box. Looks like it shouldl be replaced. Curious what others have done about this. The batteries were new last year. Something plastic, diamond metal

My battery box has a plastic or hard rubber tray. I do not know if it is OEM or installed by the previous owner.

Depending on how bad it is you can restore is. Mine had one small hole and some rust. I sanded mine and used a wire wheel brush to clean it. Then I used Ospho Rust Treatment which turns rust back to metal via chemical change. After that, I coated the whole thing in POR-15. Rust shouldn't be a problem anymore.
