Bathroom light fixture

I am trying to instal a new LED light fixture in the bathroom. I want to hook it into the existing pot light. The layout is as shown in the attached photo. My plan is to remove the pot light, attach some wires to it and then fish them across the ceiling and down into the location shown for the new light through a hole that I will drill in the bulkhead.
How do I remove the pot light? It seems to have a spring retainer. And secondly, is it possible to fish a wire across the ceiling since there is most likely an existing rib where the rivets are located. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Jim

Hi Jim, the light is held in place with two spring loaded "wings" that will be pried up and ultimately release when you pull down in the light from the outermost edge. The picture below should help illustrate the mechanism. (When they release, they can do so with a snap that can really hurt, so try to restrain them from snapping with your fingers as you guide the fixture out of the hole.)

Hope this helps,
Joe

I finally managed to get the new LED light installed in the bathroom of my 2012 30' Signature. I had previously installed a large mirror that sits on the counter and the new light now provides additional suitable light so that the area is much like a really nice dressing table. The trick was to get power to the location which I was not able to do by tapping into the existing overhead light fixture. I drilled a hole through the wall behind the new LED fixture location where I was able to gain access to the sealed area above the fridge. I used 1/4 inch plastic tubing as a fish that I was able to snake over the top of the fridge down into the exterior access area where the electronics are located. I found that the tubing was the only material that I could push through the hole in the bathroom wall and have it slide across the top of the fridge and then tumble down the backside of the fridge with out getting caught up in the paraphernalia (Danny Gallivan) lurking there. It was easy to tie into the fridge power, install a fuse, and seal the drilled hole in the fridge compartment wall with silicone caulking. An unintended benefit was a small red night light on the new fixture's on/off switch that provides an appropriate glow for night time illumination with out having to turn on any bright lights. This one hour project took me 3 days and 3 trips to the hardware store. The light fixture was purchased from an almost local marine supplier where next day delivery actually took 3 weeks. Very pleased with the outcome.
