Ballpark Figure - Vintage Awning?
Looking at a '72 Overlander with no awning at all; I know we'd be looking @ around $2000 for parts and fabric on a retractable Zip-Dee (not inc. install.) So I assume a vintage-style just held up w/the tent poles, etc should be far cheaper. . .plus I love the look!
This trailer is a 27-ft, so I'm assuming the awning would need to be abt. 20 ft - anybody out there who's done one abt. this size?
Thanks,
Susan

Susan, last fall I contacted ZipDee as I thought I had to replace the awning on my 32-ft Excella. At that time I was quoted about $1384 + $95/hr (for 3 hours) for new fabric.
May I suggest that you call Randy @ ZipDee 1-800-338-2378 and have a chat with him.

I paid $125 from JCWhitney for an 8ft one. The price has gone up somewhat. Currently about $200 for a 15 ft'er.

We have a vintage style awning
We love our vintage awning, but it's not quite as big as the one you want. We ordered ours to size from Marti Domyancic in California. She was great to work with and had a large selection of fabrics. Ours is about 11' (that's how long our awning rail is) and it was $240. She includes a fabric bag for storage too. Highly recommend her!

Also, I believe there is a lady who advertises in the Services Section of the Air Forums Classifieds, her name is Kristi. Our friends got their vintage style awning from her and it's very nice too.

A 27' foot Overlander has sixteen feet of straight sidewall, the endcaps, hitch A-frame and rear bumper make up the other eleven feet... So the awning will come up shy of 16' so the mechanisms & mounts extend little more to extend over ribs for mounting and bracing...

All of the older Airstream trailers have "exact" awning sizes that match the length of the coach, less 10 feet.
As an example, a 27 foot Airstream has a 17 foot awning rail, exactly.
Different story for the newer trailers.

Thanks for all the help and info, everyone! I am pursuing the leads mentioned, and it's good to know the length would not have to be as much as I thought. . .

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Marti. She makes an EXCELLENT product and has many fabrics to choose from. Last season I damaged mine and she fixed it for me good as new.
