Awning Problem - 91 Excella 29ft

Being a new owner as of last year, and after watching the ZipDee video about opening the big awning, I thought it would be no problem…wrong!

After I loosen the wheels and bring them around the upper rail, then I go to hook the strap and pull, I can't pull it down. Is there something else that might lock on the railing that was not on my model year in the video? Or is it because it has not been opened up in about a year (which was at the dealer, when we went through the operations together), or is it because I am a 135 lb. weakling?

Hope someone can help, because it is about time to get the awning down…

there's a lock on right

There is a lock on the right of the awning just to the left of the wheelie locks, if it is like mine. Black with a hole to put the tool into it. Just pull it down and it is now unlatched.

The above mentioned lock is on the end of the awing barrel and in the locked position folded down so it lays even with the barrel. Most A&E have a hole in the top of this lock that you can hook with the awing stick and pull it up. Once unlocked you can open the awing.

When you open the awing you have to hold the awing open and go to the lock and relock before you set the arms. If not the awing will recoil itself.

When you roll the awing up remember to relock this lock as it is one of the safeties that keep the awing closed while traveling.

Cool!!!! I didn't know that one about locking once the awning is open. I just wrote ZipDee about the play in the right arm that has play in it. Don't know if that is normal or not.

Awning Problem Solved

Thanks as always to my fellow 'Streamers'. I found the black tab like thing that is on the right side near top end of roller. No problems pulling awning down after that. I even found the instructions on how to set arms, etc.

It sure looks awesome with the awning down!
