Attwood squirel cage

We have a 2012 28 foot. Two different times now the squirrel cage in the furnace has broken impellers. I was told by a mechanic at Yellowstone national park that these plastic squirrel cages are bad and should be replaced with steel.

Does anybody out there have the same problem and have they contacted Atwood?
