Anyone else own an Argosy 20-foot Minuet dinette model?
Greetings Argo20!
Welcome to the Forums and the world of Vintage Minuet 6.0 Metre ownership!
There are only a few points of information that my be different on your heirloom Minuet than more recent trailers of similar size. First, Argosy and Airstream during this time period utilized a wiring schematic of their own design for the trailer to tow vehicle connector that is not compatible with today's "standardized" wiring configuration -- it can be easily changed if your grandfather hadn't already made the change. Second, the hitch ball size unlike many other trailer its size is 2 5/16" and can be rather difficult to find in some places (a 2" ball will work, but the tongue can bounce off of the ball without warning while underway even if the catch is locked). Third, the plumbing dump apparatus hangs very low on the streetside rear corner and can be easily drug on dips in the road or on steep driveways (a particular problem if towed nose up). Beyond that everything is fairly typical RV. The tongue weight empty is around 300 pounds and the empty weight of the coach is around 2,500 pounds.
Good luck with your adventure!
Kevin
