Anyone else got a case of the squeaks?

Every move I make, every breath I take, the camper squeaks. Is there a way to “grease” the suspension?

I have that when I park in the pole barn and don’t put the stabilizers down. When we are camping they are not a problem. Not sure of their origin. My guess is things are flexing a bit; as they should.

Hi

We have squeaks where the sub floor panels come together over the axles.

Yes and it's super annoying.. (This isn't the creaky floor just behind the bathroom area, like we have too)

Just replied to a similar thread here and still don't know the cause. We just hope it's not expensive.

Hi

Not only is there a way to, there also is a need to. The stabilizers have pivot points that need a shot of spray lube every so often. If that's what it is, you should hear them as they deploy.

The hubs do sometimes need attention. If they are squeaking it should be very apparent as you park the trailer.

Past that there isn't a lot *to* the suspension in a modern AS. The other sources of squeaks area structural.

I’m not sure we are talking the same noise, but I would describe mine as a “moan” vs. a squeak. It happens even when the stabilizers are down and can even happen with just a little wind. Interestingly, I just got home from a trip and washed the trailer and currently it is not moaning!

Our 30' FC had to have an additional outrigger welded in bedroom to stop the squeak/soft floor.

Was that your nickel or did Airstream pick up the expense?

Hi

The factory has a range of fixes for floors. Indeed if there is a significant problem (well past a simple squeak) ripping things apart and fiddling the frame is one of them. They make a call in terms of "is this bad enough?" in that case. Driving a few more nails into the sub floor is a somewhat less exciting squeak fix. Doing that without replacing the flooring is a bit of an interesting process ....

I agree with you - There are many types of creaks and ours is more of a moan too - reminds me of a fog horn that's on the Columbia River buoy #1. It has a bellows that actuate as the swells roll it up and down. This has nothing to do with the stabilizers - it makes the noise when the stabilizers are not deployed.

Here's a link to a brief mp3 file that has the noise from ours recorded..
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1b2..._BKCEEpTFvc7if

Every once in a while we don't hear it, but I'd say we can hear it 90% of the time whenever the trailer moves (due to wind, walking around, ..).

our squeaked when walking around as well. I discovered it was the spring mechanism in the awning arms that was causing it. Spraying dry film lubricant into the arms stopped the squeaking.

I had the same squeak in my 2017. Try installing an X-chock, or similar, to stop the squeak. Watch the first 45 seconds of this video to see why:

The x-chocks seem to be a useful product regardless of getting rid or the noise (creak/moan) and are inexpensive enough so I had just ordered some on Amazon, before reading billrector's latest reply. They will be delivered today, amazingly, and our Airstream is moaning in our garage right now, so I can give them a quick test later and report back.

In any case though, I consider this a band-aid and want to know how to lubricate the spot that's moaning so we can fix it for good, with or without x-chocks.
