Got a return email from AS. The pad is glued on in my unit. It really doesn't want to come off, so this job will be put off longer.

Bummer. I suppose you could order a new one as it sounds like removing it is a destructive process.

I know you want to avoid cutting the vinyl, but is there an artistic/creative pattern you could cut in the vinyl to glue behind it? A compass face? I don't know....sorry it's not attached well. Don (our tour guide there last week) didn't sound too sales-ish on the adhesive for that sort of thing :-(

I know re-adhering old, decomposing foam doesn't work, but mine just never stuck at birth. Lack of adhesive in that area I'd guess. So I think trying is worth the effort.

You can always hang a stuffed toy duck over your door. It'll do one of two things tell you to ''duck'' or pad your head if you don't.

My grandfather did that with an old rubber duckie. It took us a while to figure out what he was trying to say, but he was just as proud as he could be with his cleverness.

I got the idea on this site and passing it along. I could only wish that I was this clever.

I put some push-on chrome door edge molding on mine. At least it has smoother edges when I hit it.
