Also, standing/crawling on the roof, are there any no-go areas?

Get a round aluminum disc. Caulk and rivet it over the void.

Do you have access to the interior? if you do, I recommend you use solid rivets instead of Olympic rivets. If you must use Olympic rivets make sure you install them wet with sealant and be sure the plate/doubler is also buttered with good sealant. easy job. good luck.

If your antenna is the Wingard bat wing crank up antenna you can order an exact cover plate with matching screw holes from Wingard. I removed the whole mounting assembly but I would suggest leaving your coaxial cable under the skin where you can access it if you ever decide to add a different antenna. I removed mine for a solar panel installation. Hope this helps.
You can PM me with further questions.

Actually, all the plastic stuff on mine was toast from 38 years of UV. I found a NOS identical antenna, and the first thing was to coat all the exposed plastic with a coat of Krylon fusion.

I chopped off one leg of the antenna and bolted on (2) yagi wifi antennas. Extension cables then feed down to two wifi booster adapters like this.

I'm on the road for another 6 weeks or so, but home is in Chandler; give me a holler if you want to pursue this further.
