"And away we go"

Alright, I think I might have the picture thing figured out now. This is my "new" baby, a 1971, 25 ft. Tradewind. I'm so excited about getting started with the refurb that I didn't realize that I took 109 "before" pictures and still need some more. Oh well, this is the beginning and I expect this to take me about 10 to 11 months to complete cuz I have to drive 26 miles to pick it up, keep it in my driveway for no more than 3 days then return it 26 miles. My plan is to take stuff out in stages and work on them in my garage while the A/S is at the other location. I'm gonna keep some of it original and some I will upgrade. Well here goes.

This baby's exterior is in real good shape except for a couple missing rivits and a dent on the front underside. Does this look like something easy to fix?

I have 2 small quarter size spots of rot on the skin, how should I go about fixing those?

Very nice Airstream. I like the stacked windows with the vista view above in the living room. I had Airstream add that configuration to my 2007 25' in both the livingroom and bedroom when it was built. Post more photo's of the other side and the interior. I'm starting to create a picture file of all 25'Airstreams.

The dented banana wrap is a heat treat different then the rest of the exterior skin and is quite soft. It is easily removed by first removing the trim and then removing the few pop rivets that hold it on. After removal it is easily reformable using standard auto body tools. The hole in the other skin can be simply cleaned up and a patch installed over the top. You do need to find out what caused the corrosion and fix that issue at the same time. If you have contact between the outrigger and the aluminum skin you could have deeper problems. You need to really check this out thoroughly before making cosmetic repairs to the wrap.

This looks to me like what is happening. In the OP's picture showing the corrosion, I can see ferous metal rusted behind the hole in the aluminum.

Craftsman I have may more pics coming. I will take a deeper look at the rot to see whats causing it. Won' be able to check that till next weekend though. First thing I need is some tires, the originals say 7.00x15lt, load class C, 4 ply nylon cord. The A/S has been sitting or about 14 years(maybe as much as 16) so these tires are shot. Any advice on what to replace with?

That is a Levelall, made and sold by Reese. I bought one 2 years ago, it cost $10.

Looks like the outdoor thermometer that goes with the barometer shown.

Right. Unless it's trashed.
You can always put other instruments and gauges in the panel to suit your needs, as long as the housing is intact.
If, for example, your clock no longer works, you can get a replacement mechanism from many art supply shops, and install in place of the old one. If the controls are missing or nonfunctional, you can substitute switches to perform other tasks.
You would keep the look and feel of the original, while updating function.
Of course, you could just rip it out, and build something you can use more. It is, after all, your trailer.

I haven't gotten too deep into that one yet but it appears at first check to be functional. I think that this will be one of the areas that I keep orignal.

Here are some of the interior shots, It does have cabinet trouble but I will probably replace the sliders with swinging doors. I plan on removing the cabinets above the beds to install bunks.
