AMP hour meter shows 0 on battery charge

After one week in storage outdoors in Tucson I returned to trailer and noted the meter was dark did not light up with status button depressed. Plugged into tow vehicle and meter went through startup but battery charge level remained at 0. I am very new and need to know what my process should be to figure out what is going on. Or maybe it's nothing and I need to relax. Thanks for any help. Carolyn

Hi

First question: What meter are we talking about? Since you don't show a trailer in your description it's a bit tough to guess. Assuming it is the solar readout that often is near the stove .... which reading are we looking at?

Best guess, the batteries got left in a state that drained them flat. Next step is to get them charged back up. Plugging into shore power likely will do the trick. After that it's time to dig a bit to work out what went wrong.

A few possibilities:

Use/Store switch (usually by the door) is in "store" so the battery monitor can not see battery condition. Try setting to store, see if you hear the 'clunk' of the relay closing, then check again.

Battery could be well and truly dead from something left on and draining it. That will involve checking battery with a voltmeter...

Hi

Actually on most modern AS trailers, the solar monitor panel will show you the state of the battery in either the use or store position .... It's AS so you can never say never ....

Thank you for answering . The rig is a 2006 Airstream Classic W/Slide. The monitor I was looking at is the one that tells me The battery charge status is indeed by the stove in galley. By the door is switch for overhead lighting and for outdoor dome light. Not sure if those are what is referred too. As I don't have power st storage think I will take rig to KOA plug on and see what is up. I don't want to leave batteries depleated. Thank you for your time and knowledge. Carolyn
